ARA has chosen to focus its water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) activities in the areas of Sanitation & Hygiene for All, Improved Management of WASH in Schools and Functionality of Drinking Water Systems. ARA strongly believes that sustainability and equity are key to ensuring scale. ARA’s comparative advantage in the sector is its focus on governance at the subnational level for strengthening the decentralisation process, facilitating multi-stakeholders platforms, and introducing  market based approaches with a prominent role for the private sector in water, sanitation and hygiene service delivery. The multi-stakeholders platforms process combined with business model contributes to enhancing leadership at various levels in the WASH sector. It also creates mutual learning opportunities through extensive and effective interface among various actors.
